Here on the hill you will die on
this grassy hill overlooking the stars
your eyes cut me into these shapes
I don't know your shape you rise
in the tall grass to marry the sunrise
and no one can tell how far you came
to get here where the air speaks
and colors play we grunt remembering
what we tried to be perhaps each other
but now all that foolishness
is gone
I pick you up in my tree trunk arms
let me carry you to the next hill
there's fog and rocks and strangers
who do not know their own names
let me carry you through this valley
let me carry you and forget my scars
bigger trees mean bigger wounds
we choose to disappear we choose
the blank clock face don’t fly into
the sun like all the rest of us
o I will carry you
and when I can no longer carry you
I will carry you on this song broken
and hurried and ragged and true
o I'll carry you a thousand miles
until your smile pops out the one
that tells the world ok let’s take it again
from the top
